Navigating Covid-19 & Your Wedding by PGP Films

As larger gathering of people outdoors is becoming permissible across the country and in the mid-Atlantic region as the COVID-19 pandemic moves on, I talked with RaeChani Wilson of Open Aire Affairs about how they are planning to get their weddings & events up and running safely. Open Aire Affairs manages multiple venues in the Philadelphia area that have large outdoor tented areas, so I thought they would be the perfect company to have on to discuss how to open up safely. Rae goes into how they plan to keep guests safe, how they are working with their couples to move and plan their dates through all of this, and how they, with a partnership with Newtown Party Rental, are working to help business and other venues have tented areas to keep people safe. It’s a really great episode, and Rae & the entire team at Open Aire Affairs are some of the best people you are going to meet in the Philadelphia wedding world!

Romantic Wedding in a Garden

This beautiful outdoor garden ceremony is proof that if you want a beautiful destination, sometimes you might find that destination in your own backyard …

“Kyle proposed to me in Florence, Italy. Italy has always been a special place for us. We had just started dating when I traveled to Florence in May 2013 to complete an eight week study abroad program. Kyle happened to be backpacking through Europe with his best friend at the same time, and they made a stop in Florence. We spent four days exploring the city together. On the last night, we were walking back to my apartment and Kyle stopped me in the middle of the rain soaked cobblestone street and kissed me. It was in that exact moment that I knew I loved him. Four years later we returned to Florence for a two week vacation, and Kyle proposed to me at Piazzale Michelangelo, a picturesque terrace overlooking the beautiful city where it all began…”

romantic-garden-wedding_0165-1000x1329.jpg

What was your wedding vision? We really wanted to have an outdoor wedding that was elegant, yet not too formal. Tyler Gardens checked all of the important boxes for us. It was so much more than your typical wedding venue with it’s old world charm, stone staircases, and beautiful landscaping. The location was close to Kyle’s parent’s house, which worked really well for us as Kyle’s mom and sister did all of our flowers and decorations.

Tell us about your attire choices. While I sifted through endless color options for bridesmaids dresses, Kyle was set on wearing a blue suit from the start. He found the mystic blue suit at Generation Tux and I based all of my subsequent color choices around that. The mystic blue suit fit really well with the look that we were going for; elegant, yet not too formal. Picking out my dress was surprisingly easy. I wasn’t committed to any particular style beforehand, which was helpful as I was able to see what a variety of different styles looked like on me. As cliche as it sounds, as soon as I tried on my wedding dress I knew it was “the one.” The process of finding my dress was so much fun, and was surprisingly one of the easier decisions to make during the wedding planning process.

What was the most important to you while you were planning? The venue, photographer, food, and my dress were most important to us. We wanted to provide our guests with an elegant event that was different than a traditional country club style, which Tyler Gardens definitely provides. We also wanted a photographer whose style would match the beauty of the venue. Maria’s work with the various levels and landscapes of the venue proved to be an amazing choice. The only item we splurged on was a string trio for the ceremony. This wasn’t in the original plan but we decided to add it after seeing one at a friend’s wedding.

Favorite parts of the day? There are three memories that stand out the most to us. The first was our first look. We went back and forth on whether or not we should do a first look, and I couldn’t be happier that we did. Having that private moment together to see each other for the first time was so special. It was personal, emotional, and the perfect way to start off the day. My second favorite memory was during the ceremony. Our two year old nephew, Declan, was our ring bearer. Being that he was only two years old, we had no idea what to expect of him when it came to walking down the aisle. His dad, Kyle’s brother, was our officiant, so we were hoping Declan would be comforted by seeing him and would agree to walk down the aisle. Declan ended up completely stealing the show (and everyone’s heart). He excitedly ran down the aisle, arms wide open, screaming “Daddy!” before jumping into his dad’s arms. It was one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen. Our third favorite memory was during cocktail hour, when Kyle and I were finishing up our second round of photos. We were standing at the top of the stairs that overlook the gardens and we saw all of our family and friends down at cocktail hour. There were people from all stages of our lives who traveled from all over the world just to be there with us. There isn’t any other time when you will have all of those people together in one room and we are so grateful to have been able to share our special day with all of them.romantic-garden-wedding_0171-1365x2048

What did you do for favors? In lieu of favors, we chose to make a donation to Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a non-profit organization that raises money for pediatric cancer research. This was extremely meaningful to me, as I work with many families impacted by pediatric cancer in my career as a child life specialist.

Tell us about any special or personal details. Kyle’s mom and sister handled all decorations and flowers, which proved to be quite the project and came out better than we ever could have dreamed of. Finding the decorations consisted of the two of them visiting Home Goods, Hobby Lobby, and other similar stores for over a year to find pieces that fit with our decor vision. One major piece was also found at a nearby barn that sells second hand wood pieces. We would frequently get texts asking “What do you think of this piece?” from both of them. The most amazing part is what they produced based on a vision we described with a few photos and verbally. What they were able to put together was amazing and nobody could believe the level of care and detail that went into their work. Similarly, the flowers were created based on us showing a few photographs of what we wanted and they also came out perfect. For the year leading up to the wedding, each time we travelled back to Kyle’s parent’s house there would be test centerpieces, bouquets, and other flowers for us to see. A few days before the wedding, Kyle and his mom even drove to Costco to pick up all the flowers and greens needed to bring the whole project to life; they barely fit in the car! It was truly amazing what they were able to do and we can’t thank them enough!

My flowers were wrapped in the lace from my mom’s dress and my mom’s wedding hat was used as part of the decorations.

Advice? Try to enjoy the planning process, and don’t stress too much over the small stuff!

Tyler Garden Love Shoot: The Path of Two Soulmates by Style Me Pretty

The best of friends over a decade ago, Kiamarie and David would lose touch as their lives ventured down different paths. As they lost each other, Kiamarie would also lose her home, her job, her mother and her will to push forward through life’s ups and downs. David would suffer similar hardships. As nearly a decade passed, the two would pick up the pieces of their lives and find their way back to one another as a chance meeting out one night brought an instant connection between them once again. This time would be different though because they would become inseparable…

LFP02069.jpg

Pretty much love at first sight! They decided to celebrate this magical moment and their love for one another with a couple’s session photographed by the amazingly talented Lauren Fairin the beautiful location of Tyler Gardens. Kiamarie, now a successful and established wedding photographer herself (KSS Photography), knew this session with David had to be endearing. She incorporated lush large blooms in a colorful and beautiful bouquet to display her happiness and joy to be back with the man of her dreams, balloons to remind them of their younger playful days and laser cutouts with the saying “you’re my person” which was a surprise to David and how she told him he truly had her heart forever. Destined to be, the two NOW have each others hearts once again forever and always like meant to be soulmates.

Ellen & Michael // Wedding at Tyler Gardens

Photography by Jon Athens Photography

Sometimes two people just seem meant for each other.  In the case of these two adorable clients, an ocean couldn’t keep them apart.  This was our first half Swedish wedding.  Which just literally meant the wedding was 1/2 Swedes.  Pretty much the nicest people we have ever met.  This was also the first Swedish, let alone any, wedding at the new TYLER GARDENS venue in Newtown, PA.   The venue is gorgeous.  The staff was great.  The couple was incredible.  It was a pretty perfect wedding.  Special thanks to Lauren, again, for knocking it out of the park second shooting.  Take a look!

Pakistani Wedding Inspiration

The inspiration began with the love and passion to take a deep dive into the beautiful culture of a true Pakistani couple, capturing the authentic traditions of what their wedding day entails.

Kristina Wittig Event Coordination along with Jess Palatucci Photography collaborated to shoot this true love fairy tale in the enchanted Tyler Gardens, managed by Open Aire Affairs. Their couple was magnificent to work with, guiding them through their real life story, assisting them to capture every detail, as they learned about their culture and what surrounds their big day!

The gorgeous invitation designed by April Lynn, from April Lynn designs was one to capture the eye and set the tone for any guest attending this wedding. The heavy weight laser cut invitations, with glimmering champagne and red colors shined from a mile away. These unique invitations were simply stunning and added a true elegance to the design of the shoot, along with the specially designed menu and place seating cards.

The bride’s gorgeous beaded gown, purchased from a small boutique in Pakistan was the focal point for Kristina’s inspiration when choosing colors. Accenting her gorgeous gown was the traditional dupatta which brought this shoot to life with its vibrant gold beaded maroon fabric.

Kim Bensing from Studio Sprig in Doylestown, Bucks County, created a gorgeous centerpiece and bouquet filled with vibrant and luscious dahlia paired with textured celosia, trailing eucalyptus and ivy with a touch of fragrant rosemary. These flowers were unlike any you have ever seen, and were a staple to the gorgeous Farmhouse table used to create their vision for reception seating. This floral arrangement complimented the texture of the of the sequined gold table runner and fire orange napkins.

This remarkable team could never have captured such truly amazing and breathtaking images without the extremely hardworking and talented Jess Palatucci, a fine art wedding photographer from Philadelphia. She incorporates real film into her galleries, and her light and airy yet bold & film inspired editing style brought these pictures to life!

Ashley from Kiss and Makeup Professional Wedding Artistry created a flawless look complimenting the brides natural beauty, leaving her face glowing! Kristina then worked with the bride for the traditional dupata pinning.

No wedding would be complete without a cake. Denise from D’s cups designed a decedent white fondant with gold accent five tier wedding cake. This cake was draped with a beautiful red sheer fabric with gold trimmed detail to match the brides dupatta, headpiece and gold jewelry. It was a simply beautiful cake that was sure to make heads turn.

Lastly, the team wanted to bring a unique vendor in who would attribute to the gorgeous landscaping the grounds at Tyler Gardens had to offer. BackDroppers flower wall backdrop rentals is located in Philadelphia. The backdrop provided for the styled shoot was their signature silk flower wall. The wall was built by Kevin and over a 1000 flowers were hand placed and designed on the wall by Lesley. This wall was a mix of roses, peonies, hydrangeas and lilies which helped to create a beautiful yet romantic garden backdrop to highlight some of the gorgeous photos taken of the beautiful couple.

Following this truly magical day the bride wrote,

“This shoot allowed Bilal and I to feel the same giddy feeling we did when we got married a few months back. There’s a certain beauty to putting those outfits back on without the stress and pressure of the wedding. Jess and the team made us feel like a true bride and groom that day and Tyler Gardens is a magical place to be. This shoot let us reawaken passion, love, culture and true beauty. We especially wanted to do this shoot because you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who wants to do a shoot for a Pakistani Muslim couple and represent their culture in its true authentic beauty- but here is this shoot calling our name and these incredible people who wanted to show just that. We’re so grateful!

Modern Elegance Styled Shoot by MunaLuchi

Fall 2017 MunaLuchi Bride Magazine Feature

Modern Elegance (19)

MunaLuchi Bride Magazine Fall 2017 Feature – Modern Elegance Styled Shoot!

Read all about the design elements and inspirational details in this stunning “Modern Elegance” Styled Shoot – featuring the work of MunaLuchi Coterie members Sheronda Seawright Photography, event design and florals by Event Loft, and Hair & Makeup Artistry by Just B Beautiful.

Sheronda Seawright Photography – “Modern Elegance took place at the lovely outdoor location of Tyler Gardens. Eilena with Event Loft did a spectacular job pulling in soft white floral to compliment the greenery of this perfect venue. Some of the highlights include the stunning floral ceremony ring and mirrored aisle runner designed by Event Loft, the elegant floating bridal cake designed by Desserts By Dana, the heavenly white floral arrangements for the ceremony, as well as the reception and cocktail tables. Also, the bold pops of color in the bride’s blue Badgley Mischka shoes and groom’s blue suit and tie for their first look commands attention. To top things off, what says elegant better than a mirrored acrylic invitation and menu designed by April Lynn Designs?”

Eilena from Event Loft (Design & Floral) – “Modern Elegance was initially going to be called Garden Luxe, but as I sat down and planned the design with the rest of the team the shoot evolved into Modern Elegance. After visiting the venue Tyler Garden all I could visualize was all white with hints of silver which is bold within itself but it turned out beautifully. The inspiration came from digging deep to show a look that is uncommon in this twists that you would never expect but at the same time, it can be easily replicated for a wedding or special event without going too crazy with inspiration.”

B Wilson from Just B Beautiful (Hair & Makeup) – “I often gather inspiration from many of my real life luxury Just B Beautiful brides and this shoot is no exception. Many of today’s brides are not only making dress changes for the reception but also changing up their entire beauty look as well. For the ceremony portion I decided to give the ‘bride’ a true bridal look taking cues from the innocence of the beautiful Pronovias gown. The floral details and cathedral length veil were perfect accessories to the sleek strait hair and youthful makeup look.
For the second look again taking from my real life brides, it’s time to party! Giving our bride a truly modern, sleek, and sexy intricate updo that plays on the deep-v and details of this stunning reception. Also not to be upstaged by his bride for our ‘groom’ Kenny we decided to give him a sleek dapper hair look that paired so very well with his navy blue suit. The overall look is clean, flawless skin, with bold details that truly makes this a Modern Elegant look.”

Venue Walkthrough by Wedding Lovely

Philadelphia-wedding-photographer-BG-Productions-164

Today’s venue walkthrough is of the stunning Tyler Gardens in Philadelphia, PA and our virtual tour guide is the Venue Coordinator RaeChani Wilson from Open Aire Affairs. Enjoy!

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR VENUE:

The Formal Gardens were constructed in 1931 by George F. and Stella Elkins Tyler to provide a landscape setting for their estate, Indian Council Rock. The four-tier Gardens were influenced by French and Italian gardens and feature varieties of flora, beautiful lush lawns, dramatic stone walls and staircases, gravel walks, fountains, and bronze sculptures. Tyler Gardens are reminiscent of a golden age of elegance with fairy tale charm.

See more after the cut!

WHAT MAKES YOUR BUSINESS UNIQUE?

This is a BRAND NEW venue in the Bucks County area. So none of your friends or family members have gotten married here yet! We are very excited to feature garden parties throughout the seasons as well as host fairy tale weddings.

DO YOU TARGET ANY PARTICULAR NICHE?

There is a classic & whimsical feeling when you step into the gardens that just makes for a great backdrop for the Classic Garden or Gastby Bride.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB?

I just LOVE each design detail that comes together making each client different. I haven’t hosted the same wedding twice yet as our tented pavilions are a full blank slate to really do anything you would like. We can go from full rustic to modern, & from pops of color to an all white wedding. Our clients can customize the look & feel of their event  venue with our blank canvas approach.

HOW DO YOU HELP COUPLES CUSTOMIZE THEIR WEDDINGS?

We have more than fifteen sizes and kinds of tables, hundreds of variations in color and design of linens, as well as utensils and tableware in a multitude of designs. We also have different lighting designs  as well as a clear top to make your reception space bring in the nature surrounding the venue.

DO YOU HAVE ANY FUNNY STORIES ABOUT A PAST WEDDING OR EVENT?

The funniest one would be when I had one client that wanted to have their puppy walk down the aisle with the rings. Things didn’t go as planned of course the dog ran right past the bride & groom into the field to chase butterflies. So part of the bridal party & myself chased after the little thief to get the rings to finish the ceremony. Photographer & most of the guests got it all on camera!

WHAT’S THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED?

It’s really about what the couple envisions and how it makes them feel that day. I have a lot of the couples family members & friends voice their opinions but at the end of the day I always ask the couple what do they want. It’s hard to make decisions for everyone on your guest list. So go with what makes you happy!

ANY TIPS FOR BRIDES ON THE HUNT FOR A VENUE?

I always suggest to look for the vision of the venue. How do you want to feel on your day looking around and seeing all your guest mingle about? Your full vision of what you expect will be the backdrop of your venue. Also, go with what you want, not something your family & friends expect, it’s your day that will last a lifetime.

Celine and Dennis’ Engagement by Christopher Alexandra

Celine and Dennis picked Tyler Hall at Bucks County Community College as a starting point for their engagement shoot. With the beautiful architecture as our backdrop we had a great time with this wonderful couple on the college campus before we headed to the covered bridge area of Tyler State Park. There we had mother nature as our setting, which gave the rest of the shoot a different look with vibrant colors of flowers and greenery. Before calling it a night we lucked out as the sun set over the creek and gave us a perfect opportunity for a beautiful shot. Congratulations to Celine and Dennis. We cannot wait to work with them again on their wedding day in only a few months!
